Looking east down Kenneth and Government streets, Duncan 1940

Your One Stop Plumbing Shop Since 1940

In September 1933 Jack Griffiths became the manager of the Duncan branch of R.H. Ormond Co, a plumbing firm from Nanaimo. Jack became a partner in 1936 in Ormond and Griffiths and in 1940 Jack became the owner of the new Griffiths Plumbing.

In April 1965, the plumbing shop moved from its original location at 275 Craig Street to larger premises and to its present location at 251 Government Street. Jack retired in 1970 but the firm has remained with the Griffiths family throughout the years with Jack’s son Gordon being the present day owner.

Many are the employees who have served their apprenticeship under the firm’s name, and many are the names of both men and women throughout the Cowichan Valley who served the company as loyal employees over the past years. We presently have a staff of seven with five employees in the store and two plumbers doing renovations and service work.

The company has undergone many changes and today, in keeping with the "Do It Yourself" trend, Griffiths has upgraded its showroom with many displays showing a large variety of the kitchen and bath products available in today’s marketplace. In 2006 our store exterior was given a fresh look and we have a customer entrance from our new store parking lot. In 2007 the interior of our store was completely renovated and we are very excited about having a modern and high end showroom and parts department to serve this community with.

New materials, new styles, new ideas - all at competitive prices. Combine these features with dependable service and knowledgeable staff, a desire to serve the community efficiently and you have the reasons which for over 70 years have made one of Duncan’s oldest established firms, Griffiths Home Plumbing Centre, your best choice for all of your plumbing needs.
